Since the release of Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus, Samsung also introduced a new Bixby button to use the virtual Bixby assistance on Galaxy flagship devices. Hơever, many Galaxy users want to use this phýical for other purposes. Samsung had heard their user’s request and in the latest update for these 2016 flagships and higher, the company officially allowed remapping the Bixby button on the Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, S10E, S9, S Plus, Note 9, Note 8, S8 Plus and S8.
So in this post, we’ll show you how to remap the Bixby button on your phone.
Steps to remap Bixby button on Galaxy phones
Big thanks to the latest firmware update from Samsung for these flagships that have the hardware baked in, remapping Bixby button is now available. That means users can easily remap the Bixby button on their new Galaxy S10, or do it the same on their current Galaxy S9, S9+, S8, S8+, Note 9 and Note 8. All you need is:
- Update Bixby app through Samsung Galaxy Store
- Head to Bixby button settings
- Customize Bixby button actions
Let’s start with each step.
The first step to do is to update Bixby itself from Samsung Galaxy Store. Fortunately, the process is pretty simple. All you need is heading to the home screen and locate the Store. Next, navigate to My Page and then tap on Update. From this screen, you can see a few Bixby pending app updates. To update all at once, just hit the Update All button at the top of the screen.
Access Bixby button Settings
Once you have updated Bixby’s apps, it’s time to go to Settings menu on your Galaxy phone. You will then see a section, called Advanced Features, including Bixby Key under it. The process is also the same for the Galaxy S10, S9, Note 9, Note 8 and S8 devices, but you need to make sure that your phone is already updated to the latest system update. If it’s still running on a beta version, it won’t work.
Adjust Bixby button actions
The last thing to complete remapping the Bixby button on your Galaxy phone is picking the action you want it to serve. You can customize the button to do a different action just with a single or double tap on it. However, you can only do one or the other. If you choose the single tap, Bixby Home can still launch on a double-tap. But, remember that a long-press will automatically activate Bixby Voice.
That’s how to remap the Bixby button on Samsung Galaxy phones that have the physical Bixby button. If you feel this post useful, like the post and let’s know in the comment below.
